Mid-Back / Electrode Placement

In just a few short steps, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of your Compex® device.

Where to Place Electrodes on Your Mid/Low Back or Erector Spinalis

Erectors are the muscles that surround the spine to lengthen the spine.

Mid Back

For the mid back, you’ll need to use four 2x2 Compex® electrodes. Place the four electrodes (two one each side) inline on either side of the spine.

For the Compex® Wired device, the black snap will go on the top electrodes while the red snap will connect to the bottom electrodes.

For the Compex® Wireless the setup is the same. Attach one pod to the top electrode and the other end of the same pod onto the electrode just below. If there is slack, you can twist the pod to tighten.

Low Back

For the low back, you’ll need four 2x2 Compex® electrodes. Place the four electrodes inline along the spine. Two electrodes on the right side of the spine, two on the left. For the two bottom electrodes, stay on the meaty part of the muscle. If you go too low you will be running into the boney SI joint. The top and bottom electrodes should be a half inch to a full inch apart.

For the Compex® Wired device the black snap is on the top electrode and the red snap is on the electrode below.

For the Compex® Wireless device, the setup is the same. Attach one pod to the top electrode and the other end of the same pod onto the electrode just below. If there is slack in the wireless cable, you can twist the pod to tighten.

DJO Global, Inc. disclaims all responsibility for electrodes positioned in any other manner.
