NEW Compex Sport Elite

The Sport Elite is our newest muscle stimulator model recommended for the competitive/high performance athlete who has a rigorous training and exercise regimen. It features a total of 9 programs, and 5 levels of progression will keep elite athletes challenged with every training session, resulting in a true competitive advantage!

Compex Sport Elite Has 4 Training Programs:

    Endurance Program

  • Helps you cope with long-duration aerobic activities and increases muscle resistance to fatigue by building slow-twitch muscle fibers

  • Resistance Program

  • An all-around program for endurance and strength, building both slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle fibers

  • Strength Program

  • Increases sheer muscle strength better than conventional weight lifting alone, with less risk of muscle-tendon injury

  • Explosive Strength Program

  • For developing short bursts of power without the traumatic or violent movements associated with conventional training

And 5 additional programs:

    Potentiation Program

  • Warms up muscle faster without psychological, muscular or cardiovascular fatigue.

  • Active Recovery® Program

  • Facilitates relaxation of muscles and reduces muscle soreness and stiffness following competition or demanding workouts

  • Recovery Plus® Program

  • Does not contract the muscle. Helps clear lactic acid and increase blood flow at lower frequencies -perfect for muscles that are fatigued after a vigorous workout or competition..

  • Pre-Warm Up Program

  • Does not contract the muscle. Runs at a frequency specifically targeted to increase blood flow that oxygenates the muscles prior to a workout or competition. This program is recommended if there is any risk of cramp.

  • Massage Program

  • Electrostimulation develops the blood capillary network of the exposed muscles. This improves irrigation and oxygenation.

Compex Sport Elite Kit includes: Compex Sport Elite Muscle Stimulator, Battery Charger, CD with User Manual, Electrode Placement Guidebook, Carrying Case, Easy Snap Electrode Lead wires (set of 4), 2"x4" Easy Snap Gel Electrodes (2 packs of 2) and 2"x2" Easy Snap Gel Electrodes (2 packs of 4)

  1. Great Recovery and Strength builder Review by TK

I have used the Sport Elite for a while now and recently had great success after placing 3rd in a half marathon and then 5th at a triathlon the next day. I used the active recovery on my quads right after the event and then the recovery on my calfs at home later in the day. Felt great the next day and had no problems pushing hard again.

Using the strength routine, my legs get much more sore than using traditional weights. 30 minutes of quads on this thing is awesome. I have had days where it is hard to walk after a compex strength workout... all while on a break at work! (Posted on 11/3/12)

  2. Compex works Wonders! Review by GoHHGo

Being an endurance athlete much of my life, I have always searched for the best methods of recovery. The Compex Muscle Stimulator is easily the simplest and most effective way to recover from a hard workout.

At first glance, I was a bit skeptical until of course I brought it in to my physical therapist in order to test the machine's effectiveness and range in strength. He too was pleasantly surprised at how substantial a range this portable stimulator had. It rivals that of the desktop stem units one comes across in sports medicine facilities, and at a fraction of the size.

The great thing about this Compex stimulator is that you don't have to be a major athlete to get great use of it. Simply attaching this to one's back is a great way to relieve stress from a long day at the office.

It's easy to use, aesthetically pleasing to the eye - at least in comparison to most stem units - and incredibly portable.

Good on ya, Compex for producing such a great and versatile stimulator! (Posted on 12/5/10)

  3. An Invaluable Training Tool Review by triphelan

I started using the Compex Sport Elite Stimulator 2 weeks ago in the middle of my training build up for Kona. Since I've started using Compex, my legs recover quicker from hard workouts and I can train harder knowing that I'll bounce back quicker for the next day's workouts. The Compex Elite is super user friendly, and it's compact so I can take it with me when I travel to training camps and races. Thank you Compex! (Posted on 9/19/10)

  4. Best Muscle Stimulator Review by Kathleen

I was introduced to Compex Muscle Stimlators last year at Vineman 70.3 and was hooked. I use it every day. I truly believe it played a huge role in my success last year at Kona. I was able to train harder because I was recovered better. I have shared my recovery secret with many friends in Sacramento area and they have all become believers. (Posted on 6/10/10)

  5. Lovin' the Active Recovery Review by Rob Evans

You know, I have been an endurance athlete since the late 80's, as I have aged I have found the need to take Ibuprofen fairly regularly for both injury prevention, injury treatment (more so I could train through the injury) as well as keeping swelling etc. down. I have been known to do the standard sort of treatments like 2400 mg a day for 2 weeks etc.

Since I started Ultra Running I have had an increased need to take Ibuprofen for the amount of downhill running I do. For instance, I will run 40 miles in the Sierra's on Saturday, fairly fast and pound down canyons well over 2000' deep and several miles. This is what kills many people at Western States, the downhills.

Ibuprofen, as I am sure you know actually extends the healing process (prevents healing) and causes dehydration.

So, I am STOKED about this machine. I ran 17 miles yesterday on trails in 2 hours and 4 mintues. Did 5 of those miles at tempo (6 minute per mile pace). After the run I hooked myself up and did the 26 minutes of Compex Active Recovery at about a 100 level.

Today, no ibuprofen, ran 10.5 and had absolutely no pain. Did the warmup mode on the Compex, ran 10.5 and did active recovery. I must say, this is amazing. It is very possible that I will run the season without any NSAIDS........ And, place very well at States.

  6. Amazing! Review by Bikerman

The improvements made compared to the older units are HUGE! Not only do you still get the most amazing programs in the world of EMS, but now I have more programs and user friendly features that I love.

The snap pads are so easy to use! They make it much easier to attach the leads when you are working glutes and hamstrings in particular

The progress bars are very useful. You can tell exactly how long your contractions and rest are going to last which is very handy.

Being back lit is AWESOME! Great idea.

Being able to select which intensity buttons control increases and decreases is great. Most times I select ALL so I only need to push 1 button to increase intensity on all channels.

I LOVE the massage feature! This equates to the best massage I've ever had and I can do it anytime and anywhere. Talk about money savings! As a cyclist I pay for massages frequently when I'm racing. Saving this money will pay for the unit easily in the first year for me.

Charging is the only thing that is a bit less intuitive. You need to take all the cables out and then a guard pin is pushed aside to insert the charger.

Overall the improvements are very useful and much appreciated.

    Thanks Compex!! (Posted on 2/2/10)

  7. recovery rocks! Review by Flo

I ran 2 very hard workouts in the span of 12 hours and afterwards I could barely walk. After one 24-minute session of Active Recovery with the Compex Sport Elite my legs were like brand new. Woke up the next morning and I ran totally fresh. This product ROCKS! (Posted on 12/2/09)

  8. Thank you Review by Pete Sadowski

Your electrodes work miracles! No tightness or soreness at all, and I was in pain walking around yesterday. (Posted on 10/19/09)

    • Do the Compex European models have a TENS program?
    • Hello, Charles -

Unfortunately we do not have access to the international Compex unit information. If you could provide us with your country location, we can provide you with the person you need to contact who could better provide an answer to your question.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

    • How does compex sport elite muscle stimulator build slow twitch muscle fibers?
    • Hello, Jonathan -

I am a little unclear on your question. I think you want to know how slow twitch muscle fibers are strengthened/enhanced by use of the product?

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) reproduces the body’s natural process of voluntary muscular contractions with “optimal” electrical impulses. When an electrical impulse is applied to the motor nerve, it provokes a deeper and more complete muscle contraction than what can be attained through standard voluntary training or activity. A muscle cannot tell the difference between a voluntary contraction (triggered by the brain through voluntary activity). The result is a more efficient workout regimen with less risk of injury to joints and tendons and without cardiovascular fatigue.

    • Hi Compex team,

I just purchased the Compex sport elite and was wondering which programs would be recommend for tight or stiff muscles?
    • Hello, Charlotte -

Depending on when your muscles are tight/stiff and also what your goals are would determine what programs. If prior to activity you want to warm up your muscles to make them more pliable for activity, I would recommend the "Pre-Warmup" setting. If you feel stiff after activity, the Active Recovery setting is recommended to reduce the level of lactic acid to allow a relaxation cool down.

If you have further questions, please contact our product specialists at 888-405-3251 and they can discuss live any other questions you may have. You can also visit our link at "shopcompex.com" for further information.

Could you tell me what is the different and with one is most similar to my one. Is it posible to get the MI sensor for my compex if is it making any diference.
      Thank Lukas.

    • What is the difference between Compex and Marc Pro ? and do you have any research that has been published to show its effectiveness?
    • Brian,
I am not familiar with the Marc Pro device. However, I have provided a link to several clinical studies done with the Compex. I can tell you it is used in injury recovery by several Division 1 NCAA football programs as well. Please see link: http://www.compex.info/en_EU/Clinical_studies.html

    • How many muscle groups can the Compex Sport Elite Muscle Stimulator work at the same time, ( for example can i do the chest and byceps at the same time)
    • The Compex Sport Elite unit can provide stimulation to (4) separate muscle groups at the same time: from Left to Right (portal colors - Blue , Green , Yellow , Red).
  • From shana richardson at 10/12/11 10:24 PM
    • I have read how many electrode pads come with the set. Do you recommend more or is that generally enough? If there instances where one would need more, what would those instances be, how many more would be necessary and which size(s)? Thank you.
    • See the following link for the Electrode Placement Guide. The guide demonstrates successful pad placement for most muscle groups.
  • From Rafael at 9/24/11 1:11 PM
    • Does Compex sport elite work to discrease the abdominal's perimeter? And it does how?
    • No – not by itself. The Compex muscle stim will successfully strengthen and tone your abdominal muscles. As it does for other muscle groups. However, if you do not reduce your body fat %, you will not really see the girth of your stomach area decrease as much as you would like.If you increase your cardiovascular training on a daily basis, use Compex on your abs and change your caloric intake to the proper ratio of protein, carbohydrates and fat, you can definitely shape your abs and decrease stomach size. It takes time. Finally, if you drink alcohol, sodas, regular milk or fruit juices – STOP. They provide many unwanted calories.
  • From John at 9/9/11 6:14 PM
    • Do all models also help with increasing flexibility and preventing stiff muscles.
    • The Elite unit has Pre-Warm Up and Massage programs and the Performance unit has just the Pre-Warm Up program. Both of these programs can prepare tissue to be physically “stretched” which will improve flexibility over time. Just using the Compex muscle stim unit alone and not stretching would be only half of the equation. As a rule, it is best to dynamically or actively elongate tissue prior to activity and then statically stretched or hold for time after activity to put the tissue to rest.

    • Hi Compex Team....i am having a knee surgery in about a month. I am also a very active person, that is why i am so interested in purchasing one of these, but i would like you to guide about something....i know Compex Elite will help me recover my muscle mass after the surgery a lot faster than any conventional method, but i also want to know how the electrical stimulation fo Compex products can help with my knee recovery....can the inflammation be treated with the Recovery programs or with any other? After the injury, i have been using TENS for this, but i suppose Compex's programs would help too. Am i right? Would you explain me how? How about the Recovery Plus program? Will it help too?

      Thanks in advance
    • Hi Luca-
Sorry to hear about your knee injury. As you mentioned, Compex will definiately help you to build muscle mass and strenghten the affected area. The Recovery programs (depending on what unit you purchase - there is Massage, Active Recovery and Recovery Plus) will help to promote increased circulation (4.5 times faster), release endorphins which are your body's natural pain killer and will help to promote overall muscle relaxation. Compex is a NMES device and not a TENS ... a TENS unit blocks the pain receptors whereas NMES provides the benefits as described.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Thank you and good luck in your recovery.
  • From Aj Cheetah at 6/29/11 4:23 PM
    • Hey,

So on the "how to use compex" guide, they show electrode placements for the knee: Putting 4 large pads around the knee. Is that for the COmpex Elite model or the other models (Compex-Mi sport which isnt sold in USA) which have TENS on it?

If it doesnt matter then what program would/should I use after placing the four large electrodes around my knee? (With Cmpex Elite model?)

And Are the COmpex-Mi sport models not FDA apporved? Is that why they are not sold in USA?

      AJ A.
    • Hi-

The FDA regulations differ in Europe than those in the US. Currently, our Compex units do not offer Mi or TENS technology due to the 510(k) approval restricitions for a Class II medical device. If using the Sport Elite, we recommend using the Active Recovery and/or Massage programs at least once a day to help increase blood circulation and promote muscle relaxation. The electrode placement is same for either unit.

I hope this answers your questions.

      Thank you

    • 1. What's the difference between real Active Recover and Recovery plus AND when should you use each?
      2. Also does it help to use active recover/recovery plus more than once per day?
      3. What intensity (number) should you run Active Recovery for your quads?
    • 1. What's the difference between real Active Recover and Recovery plus AND when should you use each?
The Active Recovery Program is a 24 minute session that starts at 9Hz and works its way down to 1Hz. This program clears lactic acid, increases circulation 4.5 times faster, releases endorphins and promotes muscle relaxation. It can be used both pre/post workout.

The Recovery Plus is a 25 minute program that runs at 2Hz, 4 Hz, 6Hz, 5 Hz, 4Hz, 1 Hz, and should be used when muscles are fatigued or strained. Best to be used post workout.

      2. Also does it help to use active recover/recovery plus more than once per day?
Yes - you can use it several times a day - as it increases blood flow and circulation which are beneficial (except when you have a contusion).

      3. What intensity (number) should you run Active Recovery for your quads?
What ever level is comfortable and produces a visible twitch - it can very anywhere from 25-100.
  • From megan at 4/5/11 7:31 PM
    • do the cables and patches, batteries and charger all come with the unit or do we also have to purchase those as well as the unit?
    • Everything is included with the purchase of the Compex Sport Elite.
  • From Lionel at 3/2/11 7:34 AM
    • In the FAQ section in find the exact motor point it refers to using a motor point pen. I do not find it in the accessories list, is it avaiable in the US ?

Also discussed is the use of the positive electrode. Can it be used as if it were a motor point pen ? Is it to be placed directly on the skin ? and will the negitive electrode need to placed also ?
    • HI-
The motor point pen is not available in the US. The Compex electorode placement guide photos show the precise recommended location. To locate your own motor point more accurately, you can move the positive electrode slightly (red cable) and watch where the muscle response is the best (strongest twitch of the same intensity).
      Hope this helps.

    • The Compex units are available over the counter without a prescription.
  • From Robert at 4/21/10 12:56 PM
    • What is the difference between Compex and a TENS unit?
    • TENS the acronym for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. A TENS unit is prescribed for both acute pain and chronic pain conditions and sends electrical impulses to certain parts of the body to block pain signals from being transmitted to the brain. It is used at the sensory level and does not cause muscle contraction.

When used for strength training, Compex sends a signal to the motor nerve of the muscle causing it to contract and build muscle mass. The Active Recovery program increases blood flow, removes lactic acid, releases endorphins and promotes muscle relaxation.
